Today, I want to talk to you about recognizing the one. The one who changes everything. The one who, when you see him, you know that nothing will ever be the same again. I’m talking about Jesus. And I want to take you to a moment in the Bible where this recognition happens in a powerful way. It’s in the Gospel of John, chapter 1, verses 29 to 34. This is where John the Baptist sees Jesus coming toward him and declares, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Now, John the Baptist was a man who knew his purpose. He was sent to prepare the way for the Lord. But even he had to have a moment of recognition. Even he had to see Jesus for who he truly was. And when he did, it changed everything. He saw Jesus and knew that he was the one. The one who would fulfill all the promises. The one who would bring salvation. The one who would change the world.

I wonder how many of us have had that moment. That moment when we see Jesus for who he truly is. When we recognize him as the one who can take away our sins, who can bring us peace, who can give us hope. It’s a powerful moment, and it’s one that can change the course of our lives. But it requires us to be open. It requires us to be willing to see. To see beyond our doubts, beyond our fears, beyond our preconceived notions.

John the Baptist had to be open to seeing Jesus in a new way. He had to be willing to let go of his own expectations and embrace the truth of who Jesus was. And when he did, he was able to declare with confidence, “I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.” What a powerful declaration. What a powerful moment of recognition.
